About Feneos Korinthias
The plateau of Feneos covers an area of 226 acres bordering with the states of Arcadia and Achaia. The municipality Includes the former communities Mosias, Messinou, Matiou, Ancient Feneos (Kalivion), Stenou, Feneos (Syvistas), Panoramatos and Upper-Lower Tarsus.
The crystal clear waters of lake Doxa reflect the high peaks of Aroanio and Kyllini mountains crowned with lush forests of plane trees, black oaks, pines, and chestnuts while also being rich aromatic plants.
The plateau of Feneos is actually the remains of an old lake covering an area up to 32 acres. Now days and mostly In winter time the lake covers 6 acres southwest of the plateau at the foot of the site.
Feneos it is considered the mythical birthplace of the god Hermes. It served as a cult centre for the god, notably during the annual celebrations of the Hermaea.
